Arriving in LA: Good call little old lady

Since Friday Deb and I have been preparing for our trip to LA. It involved a lot of shopping, much of it very unsuccessful. We were shopping even as we arrived in Gettysburg on Sunday for our pretrip meeting. They took us out to eat at O'Rorkes to eat and I had a crab sandwich. Deb and I then went off to staples in hopes of finding professional type bags and folders for our resume, but it was closed. Walmart lived up to the challenge and Deb and I got matching bags and folders. The next task was finding Eagle apartments, which proved difficult. It is right across from Gary Owens. The apartment is huge, but it was quite cold last night. We ended up getting very little sleep before waking up to meet the group at 5:45 am in Masters Lot. From there we embarked to Dulles airport. Baggages were checked and I made it through security without any hiccups. We had a little bit of time to grab a few items of food before we boarded the plane. Deb was randomly checked with her bag. The planes are getting smaller and smaller. It was quite cramped quarters and Deb and I struggled to sleep on the plane.

We arrived in LA around noon their time so 3pm East coast time. It was so much warmer than the East coast and there are palm trees everywhere! I really like the palm trees. There were no plans scheduled for today so after arriving at the hotel, Steph, Deb and I got changed and decided to go exploring. We first set out to find food. Deb asked an older woman if there were good places to eat and she recommended a little place next to the laundromat. It was an Asian American combination with hamburgers and terriyaki all on the menu. The three of us got turkey club sandwiches and we had milkshakes for dessert. A nice guy offered to take a group photo of us telling us to say "California cheese." Then we went exploring until we came upon a very complicated intersection with a lack of crosswalks. We decided to go a different way which lead us to the Universal area and up a huge hill to the city walk. That area was full of shops and a ton of lights. Walking around in simply t-shirts was comfortable during the day, but it quickly got cold at night. We took a shuttle back to the hotel. We are all getting very tired and even though it isn't even 9pm here we are all getting ready to go to bed. We need to be ready at 9am tomorrow for our full day of activities.
